We want to adamantly assure our customers, partners, and fellow privacy community members that silverbackvpn remains a zero-logs VPN service.

In February 2017, silverbackvpn’s parent company, Highwinds Network Group, was acquired by StackPath, LLC. Prior to the acquisition, the StackPath team performed an independent audit on the silverbackvpn platform to ensure that no previous traffic records or VPN logging systems existed. No history of logging was found during this audit.

A Reddit thread (discussing a 2016 court case involving old ownership) called our logging practices and privacy policy into question. We felt it was important to comment on this thread to set the record straight.

Most notably, the incident occurred long before StackPath acquired silverbackvpn in 2017. We have no record of the incident, and the management that was involved in the incident is long gone. We can’t comment or speculate on what may have happened.

silverbackvpn does not, has not, and will not log or store logs of our users’ activity as a StackPath company. Our commitment to customer privacy is unwavering.

StackPath CEO, Lance Crosby, had this to say on the matter: “I can’t speak to what happened on someone else’s watch, and that management team is long gone. But know this – in addition to not logging, StackPath will defend the privacy of our users, regardless of who demands otherwise.”
